HOW TO BE A HUMAN BEING https://rigaiff.lv/films-2023/ka-but-cilvekam/ Directed by: Jorė Janavičiūtė LT, 2023 Thirty-year-old Simona meets Mantas, whom she dated as a teenager, at a hotel during a conference. Back then, she accused him of date rape. As part of her duties at the conference, Simona needs to help participants prepare for their presentations. The acquaintances from long ago start talking. It turns out that her memory is playing tricks – something completely different than what she has thought for many years happened. A black comedy of the #MeToo era that seeks to re-examine the relationship between victim and abuser through the rules of the genre. Lithuanian-born Jorė Janavičiūtė studied journalism at Vilnius University, production at the European Film College in Denmark and holds a Master’s degree in film directing from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Her dramedy about a kleptomaniac, the short film Where Things, Where People Disappear (2017), has won acclaim and awards at several European festivals. Meanwhile, her latest work focuses on the discourse of intimate relationships and the inherited taboos of the millennial generation.

Martyna and Kamilė are young women in their mid-twenties. They used to be best friends during their studies. About a half a year ago, Martyna decided to vanish from Kamilė’s life. But she didn't tell it to her friend. One day Martyna is on her way to meet her co-workers, she is passing through the parking lot of a shopping center in a rush. She meets Kamilė, who wants to find out the reasons for Martyna‘s disappearance. A short film “Parking Lot” is examining the theme of “emotional hygiene” through the perspective of friendship. He works in a sport club through an integration program which helps people with mental disorders to return to society. Julė is 27. She is always late everywhere. She is about to become a judge, but the fact that she is always late gets in the way. She starts going to driving lessons that should help to solve her problem. Here she meets a driving instructor Artūras, a cause of her problem starts to show.
